Product Information

A procurement team orders a replacement counter shaft for a cone crusher. The bearing journals pass inspection. The gear teeth pass inspection. The shaft is installed, and the crusher goes back into production.

Two months later, the gear teeth show abnormal wear. The contact pattern is not centered. Noise and vibration have increased. Oil analysis shows rising iron content.

The root cause is not the bearing journal or the gear teeth. It is the relationship between them. A counter shaft is an integrated gear shaft — journals and teeth machined on the same part. If the teeth are not concentric with the journals, or if shaft runout is too large, the gear mesh runs at the wrong center distance and angle. The bearing may still seat. The shaft may still turn. But the mesh is now outside its design range.

Both features passed inspection. The relationship between them did not. And no one owned it.

Our Solution

ZHUOYUE machines the counter shaft as an integrated gear shaft — one common datum, one runout control, one post-heat-treatment grind, one inspection record.

  1. Journals and gear teeth machined from a common datum. Controls concentricity between journal centerline and gear pitch circle — so mesh geometry stays consistent along the shaft.

  2. Shaft runout controlled between bearing journals. Radial runout ≤ 0.02 mm. Shaft diameter tolerance ± 0.01 mm. Journal roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 μm. Tooth profile IT5. These values determine whether the shaft rotates on its true centerline — if runout is too large, the mesh oscillates and teeth load unevenly.

  3. Gear teeth ground after heat treatment. Carburizing and quenching distort the teeth. Grinding after hardening corrects that distortion, so final tooth profile and pitch are within tolerance on the finished part.

  4. Material matched to the load case. 20CrMnTi carburized and quenched: case depth 1.2–1.8 mm, surface HRC 58–62, core HRC 30–35. Hard surface resists wear; tough core absorbs impact.

  5. Runout and alignment recorded before shipment. Radial runout and journal-to-gear concentricity measured on every shaft, with actual values in the inspection document.

Value to the Buyer

  • Lower risk of a shaft that fits the bearing but not the gear. Alignment is measured, not assumed.

  • Fewer warranty disputes. Runout and alignment data are recorded for traceability.

  • Longer gear and bearing life. Correct runout keeps mesh and bearing load within design range.

  • Less unplanned downtime. Functional dimensions are checked before shipment.

A shaft that fits the bearing but not the gear is not a shaft problem. It's an alignment problem. And alignment is our responsibility.

Why buyers choose us:

  • One supplier owns the integrated shaft — if the gear mesh does not run correctly, you deal with one supplier, not two.

  • Journal-to-gear alignment measured — runout and concentricity recorded on the finished shaft.

  • Gear teeth ground after heat treatment — tooth profile and pitch corrected on the finished part.

  • Flexible supply — stock MOQ 1 piece; custom 30–50 pieces; framework 7–10 business days.

Comparison describes common market practice, not a specific competitor. Inspection records are available with the order.

Product Application

This counter shaft is a transmission component for cone crushers, used in:

  • Hard rock mining: Copper, iron ore, gold, and nickel crushing circuits.

  • Aggregate quarries: Granite, basalt, and limestone processing plants.

  • Construction and recycling: Concrete rubble, asphalt, and slag crushing lines.

  • Building materials and metallurgy: Clinker, slag, and industrial mineral crushing.

The shaft is selected according to the specific crusher model, load case, and operating environment. Material, heat treatment, and functional tolerances are confirmed before production.

FAQ:

Q: How do I order a replacement counter shaft if the OEM part number is missing?

A: Send clear photos of the worn shaft along with key measurements (journal diameter, bearing seat diameter, gear tooth count, shaft length, mounting dimensions), or mail a sample. Our engineering team will reconstruct the geometry and send you a drawing to verify before production.

Q: What material and heat treatment do you use?

A: We use 20CrMnTi low-carbon alloy structural steel, with carburizing and quenching. Carburized layer depth is 1.2–1.8 mm, core hardness is HRC 30–35, and surface hardness is HRC 58–62.

Q: Can you control the alignment between the bearing journals and the gear teeth?

A: Yes. The bearing journals and gear teeth are machined from a common datum. Shaft radial runout is controlled to ≤ 0.02 mm, and journal-to-gear concentricity is measured and recorded before shipment.

Q: Are the gear teeth ground after heat treatment?

A: Yes. The gear teeth are carburized and quenched, then ground after heat treatment to correct distortion and bring the final tooth profile and pitch within tolerance.
